GIP-Opdracht 1 Engels

Day 1
The first building we visited was  “Historia de la Grande Guerre”. The first part of the building that we saw was the old castle but the back of the building was the part where we came for. The new part was built by le Corbusier and was very interesting because the ground floor was very open for such a massive building. Le Corbusier did this by placing his building on pillars. This building was in my eyes very pretty because he made a massive building that was very open with concrete as main material. Later in the day we visited “Centre Pompidou” this building had the supporting structure on the outside and was because of that very modern and open for the visitors. But that was the only beautiful part of the building because on the outside it looked so messy and over the top I really understand why a lot of the people living there are against the building. At the end of the day we visited the famous “Louvre”. Well I think that almost everyone though that the building was so massive and big that it just is overwhelming. Personally I got lost in the building but there were some really nice features. Like the high ceilings that were curved. The only thing that wasn’t beautify in the building were the stairs
that were made of marble and all but they were dark and placed in corners of the building. It was like they were trying to hide them.
Day 2
We started the day by visiting “la Cathédrale Notre Dame”. It was a beautiful building but it didn’t inspire my in a way that I want to integrate in my GIP-Project. But there were things in the cathedral that really touched me like the windows and the immensity of the building.
The building we visited after the cathedral was “IMA by Jean Nouvel” this building was very modern. Jean Nouvel uses diaphragms to cover one side of his building they change according to the light so that the incoming light stays the same throughout the building. This idea was very innovating because the building itself changes. But I would never apply this in my GIP-Project because it is not applicable in small houses.
An Other building that we visited was “Musée du Quai Branly by Jean Nouvel” This building was very inspiring because the building was next to a very busy street. But was very quiet because Jean Nouvel placed a big glass wall as a sound barrier. One of the facades of the building was complitly covered with plants this is one of the things that I want to put into my GIP-Project. Overall the building was very stylish because of the modern lines in the building.
DAY 3
The last day we only visited buildings of le Corbusier. This day was the longest for me we visited “Villa La Roche” and Villa Savoye” but there wasn’t anything in ties buildings that I would use myself in any way. Don’t understand my wrong they weren’t ugly but not that efficient in my eyes.

In deze opdracht kunnen fouten zitten, deze zal ik zo snel mogelijk verbeteren.
